Your devices
One app, whichever device you use
Soap Studio runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and any one of them does the whole job: design a recipe, set up your moulds, make the batch and keep the Journal.
If you have more than one, they share the work, because everything syncs. Design on the Mac, where the big screen shows the recipe and its results side by side. On the day, prop an iPad beside the scales or print a recipe sheet. Use the phone to check your stock while you're out buying supplies, or to log a batch the moment it's poured.

A recipe that fits your mould
Write a recipe once as percentages and choose a mould. Soap Studio works out exactly how much batter fills it and sizes every ingredient, lye and water included. Choose a different mould and the whole recipe resizes. Prefer to type your own weights? Weight and Total Oil Weight modes do that too.
Moulds
How many bars, and where to cut
Describe each mould once, or for an odd shape weigh it full of water, and Soap Studio shows how many bars it gives, what each will weigh fresh and cured, and exactly where to cut. Set a minimum bar weight and it never offers you a bar lighter than that.

What each bar really costs
Lye, fragrance, colour, the lot: every ingredient is costed, so the cost per bar is the real one. Track your stock if you like, and Soap Studio tells you when a recipe needs more than you have.

A soapmaker's diary
Log a batch and the Journal keeps it: what went in, how you cut it, photos, notes, the cure date in your calendar, and label details ready to copy. Weigh your bars as they cure and the app's predictions get closer to your own soap.

Enter your supplier's IFRA limits and every recipe is checked against them on the right basis, as a share of the finished soap, the way the limits are published, including blends of several fragrances.

No mandatory fields, no forced steps. Leave anything blank and Soap Studio still gives you every figure it can, and tells you plainly what's missing.
Trustworthy maths
The lye figures were checked to the decimal place against the Soap Designer spreadsheet I published for many years, and against well-known online calculators set to the same lye purity. Those checks are built into the app's tests, which run every time the app is changed.
Lye as sold isn't quite pure, so Soap Studio allows for it: 99% for NaOH and 90% for KOH unless you change them. That makes its lye weights slightly higher than a calculator that assumes pure lye.

Made by a soapmaker
Making soap has been a hobby, then a small business, then a hobby again over the last 20 years or so. It's that perfect blend of art, craftsmanship, science and fun. I started using software (Excel) early on to resize batches as the moulds I was using changed (larger for production and smaller for testing). I published a free spreadsheet for many years on Soap Making Forum, but it required having Excel installed and macros with all their security issues. So when I retired I thought I'd use my software skills to overcome those obstacles and make my first app. I hope you like it.
